IATF 16949 consultants in South Africa

Automotive quality management systems designed, implemented and kept audit-ready, starting with a gap audit.

IATF 16949:2016 is the automotive quality standard your OEM or customer expects from suppliers in the supply chain. It builds on ISO 9001 and adds the automotive-specific disciplines (APQP, PPAP, FMEA and control plans) that the industry runs on.

We design, implement, prepare and maintain the system around your real production processes. You can bring us in for consulting only, for consulting plus the iQuotient platform, or to strengthen an existing system. The starting point is always a gap audit.

What we do

  • Gap review against IATF 16949:2016 and the ISO 9001 fundamentals it assumes.
  • Core tools set up and documented: APQP, PPAP, FMEA and control plans.
  • Process approach, risk management and customer-specific requirements built in.
  • Internal audits, corrective action and management-review preparation.
  • Certification-body audit preparation: we get you ready to pass.

Frequently asked questions about IATF 16949

What is IATF 16949?
It is the automotive quality management standard for organisations in the automotive supply chain. It builds on ISO 9001 and adds automotive-specific requirements such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA and control plans.
Do we need ISO 9001 before IATF 16949?
IATF 16949 incorporates the ISO 9001 requirements, so those fundamentals need to be in place. We assess where you stand in the gap audit and build from there.
Does Synergy Consilium certify us to IATF 16949?
No. We are an implementation partner. An independent, accredited certification body performs the audit and issues the certificate; we design, implement and prepare your system so you pass it.
What are the automotive core tools?
APQP (advanced product quality planning), PPAP (production part approval process), FMEA (failure mode and effects analysis) and control plans. We set these up around your actual production.
How does it start?
With a gap audit. We review your current processes against IATF 16949, show you the gaps, and agree a practical plan to close them.
