1. Introduction
Synergy Consilium (PTY) Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal data when you visit our website www.synercon.co.za, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). To keep the site running well and to understand and measure our marketing, analytics and advertising cookies are active by default when you use this site. If you would rather not be measured, you can opt out at any time (see Cookies and Tracking below).
2. Information We Collect
- Personal identifiers: name, company, email address and phone number when you fill in our contact or enquiry forms. Providing these details is voluntary, but we need them in order to respond to you. We use this information to respond to you and to manage your enquiry, and we keep enquiry correspondence in a secure internal record for as long as it is needed for that purpose and for our business records.
- Usage data: pages visited, time spent on each page, referral source and how you interact with the site, collected via Google Analytics in aggregated form to help us improve the site and measure our marketing. This is active by default; you can opt out as described under Cookies and Tracking.
- Device and browser data: IP address, browser type/version, operating system, used for security (including spam protection on our forms) and performance monitoring.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your inquiries and provide consulting services.
- To improve our website content, functionality, and user experience.
- To measure our marketing through Google Analytics and Google Ads, so we can see which advertising brings genuine enquiries and spend responsibly.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use two kinds of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential cookies and scripts needed for core site functionality and security, such as spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA) on our contact form and remembering that you have seen our cookie notice. These are always on.
- Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics and Google Ads) that help us understand how the site is used and measure which advertising brings genuine enquiries. On this South African website these are active by default when you browse, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site and measuring our marketing, together with the notice we give you here and in the banner at the foot of the page.
If you submit our contact form, we also share your email address and phone number with Google in hashed (pseudonymised) form to improve the accuracy of our advertising measurement (“enhanced conversions”).
How to opt out. We do not ask you to click “accept”. If you would rather not be measured, you can:
- simply leave the site, after which no further analytics or advertising information about your visit is collected; or
- block or delete cookies for this site in your browser settings, or use a private/incognito window, which prevents these cookies from being set at all.
We honour browser-level controls, and any earlier choice to decline that you may already have made on this site is still respected.
5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share your information with:
- Our trusted service providers (website hosting, and Google for analytics and advertising measurement as described above), only to the extent needed to operate the site and measure our marketing.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required by law.
- Third parties in connection with the sale or merger of all or part of our business.
Cross-border processing. Some of our service providers, including Google, operate and store data on servers outside South Africa. Where your personal information is transferred outside the country, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled by parties that are subject to data-protection laws or binding rules offering a level of protection comparable to POPIA, in line with section 72 of the Act.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to this website.
7. Retention Period
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as it is needed to handle your enquiry and for our business records. Analytics and advertising data is retained in our reporting tools for a limited period and then deleted automatically. A small flag noting that you have seen our cookie notice is stored in your browser until you clear it.
8. Your Rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you by contacting us.
- Request correction of any data you provided.
- Request deletion of your personal data, subject to any records we are required to keep.
- Object, on reasonable grounds, to the processing of your personal information.
- Opt out of analytics and advertising measurement at any time by leaving the site or by blocking cookies in your browser, as described under Cookies and Tracking.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe your data has been mishandled. You can reach the Regulator at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za or at inforegulator.org.za.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@synercon.co.za.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
